Ah, blondes

Ah, blonde women. There is a mystery about them, I think; a mystery that draws men to them. It's not that they are more attractive than brown-headed kin, but rather than are a shadow and a threat on the stablishment. Yes, that must be it. One in particular--Good God! I could just look and look upon her. I'm not certain I would touch if I were able, though I have at times thought it might be a nice thing to accomplish. And so that is my secret, which is why I shall never mention her name in good company. But in my dreams... oh, hows she haunts them, forever and ever. It is good for a man to have a dream he cannot obtain, a dream that is better in the dream than in the flesh. It causes him to stay back from life, and live in his mind and his dreams as he ought never live in the flesh. That is what makes a man a man, I think. Pale skin, light eyes, and blonde hair. My namesake would perhaps look askance on me for this, but I cannot help it.

Ah, here's to her--the girl in my dreams, who if I touched in the flesh would lose all her luster!
